News Blog:  Tech Webinars coming to a Computer Near You!

I've never heard of [insert name of Web 2.0 tool here]; how can it help me in my class?

That comment and inquiry is a common one I hear from teachers.  It defines a prevalent problem: How can teachers stay abreast of all the great new technology that's "out there" and, more importantly, bring it "in" to their classrooms!  This blog helps you solve that problem by letting you know about two great opportunities in August (both of which are FREE)!  August is already special here at Rimwe Educational Resources because (a) it is the birth month of our fearless leader, Dr. Perdue (our Leo was born on the 6th) AND (b) it is Rimwe's birth month also (We will turn 1 year old on the 12th!). This year though, August is EVEN MORE special!  As you may already know, the US State Department declared August to be "Connected Educators" month and Rimwe is working hard to provide those connections in terms of effective use of technology in education, particularly mathematics.  Here are two webinars, presented by Dr. Perdue, that you can register for and attend free of charge: (ENJOY!)

  1. A one-hour introduction to The Geometer's Sketchpad offered in conjunction with Key Curriculum. (August 7th)
  2. A 45-minute discussion and overview on how to engage your students using social media and Web 2.0 tools offered as part of the U.S. State Department's Connected Educators Month and in conjunction with BrightTALK and TIE (Technology Integration in Education) (August 21st)
